30일동안 송도해수욕장에서 개최될 2013바다미술제 ‘With 송도 : 기억·흔적·사람’이
오는 9월 14일, 드디어 막을 올린다.

바다미술제는 1987년 88서울올림픽의 프레올림픽 문화행사로 개최된 것을 시작으로 부산비엔날레 통합(2000년)을 포함해 27년 동안 지속적으로 개최되어온 부산미술의 역사이다. 또한 세계적으로 볼 때 유사한 전시가 없을 정도로 부산만의 해양성과 실험성이 돋보이는 전시이며 호주 시드니의 해변에서 개최되는 'Sculpture by the sea'라는 유사 전시에 비해서도 10년 가까이 먼저 개최된 전시이다.

그동안 바다미술제는 부산 미술인들의 독특한 실험정신이 돋보이는 전시로 당시 실내만을 전시장으로 보았던 시각에서 부산의 환경, 특히 백사장과 인근주변으로 확대하여 개방적 전시개념을 펼쳤으며 작품 또한 해수면과 주변과 조화를 이루는 작품으로 새로운 해양 미술이라는 평가를 받았다. 2013바다미술제는 ‘With 송도 : 기억·흔적·사람’이란 주제로 30일간 송도해수욕장에서 열린다. 전시기획의 전문성을 높이기 위해 조각가 출신의 전시감독을 영입하였으며, 전시 뿐 아니라, 다양한 축제행사 프로그램들로 구성되어 있다는 점에서 과년도와 다른 차별점을 가진다. 2011바다미술제를 기점으로 독립브랜드로 재탄생된 바다미술제는 올해 2회를 맞이하며 부산을 대표하는 미술전시로 자리잡게 되었다.

2013바다미술제 개막행사는 정민아 가야금 퓨전공연을 시작으로 개막선언과 2013바다미술제 전시감독 소개, 공모작가 시상식으로 꾸며진다. 테이프 컷팅 후 강산에의 축하공연과 바스커션의 브라스공연으로 개막식 열기를 더 뜨겁게 할 것이다.

Sea Art Festival 2013 ‘With Songdo : Remembrance·Marks·People’,
which will be held for 30 days at Songdo Beach, will open coming September 14.

Found in 1987 as a pre-Olympic event of the 88 Seoul Olympics, the Sea Art Festival is the history of art in Busan. The exhibition has been held for twenty-seven years without a cessation, including 2000, the year when the exhibition got consolidated with the Busan Biennale. Known for its experimental approach, the Sea Art Festival is a unique exhibition that highlights the marine environment of Busan, with very few comparable exhibitions internationally. The exhibition was found ten years prior to an inception of the similar exhibition Sculpture by the sea, which is held at the beach in Sydney, Australia.

The Sea Art Festival is pronounced for unique experimental minds of Busan artists. It opened up the conception of an exhibition by expanding its exhibition space to the natural environment around Busan, especially the beach and surrounding areas, breaking away from the perspective that conceived only indoor spaces as exhibition space. Showcasing works of art relating to the sea also helped the exhibition to gain its reputation as the new kind of marine art. With the theme of “With Songdo: Remembrance·Marks·People,” the Sea Art Festival 2013 will be held at Songdo Beach for 30 days. The Artistic Director, who is also a sculptor, was appointed to achieve curatorial comprehensiveness, and the exhibition also comprises various Festival Events, adding another distinction to this year’s exhibition from the previous. The Sea Art Festival 2013 is the second edition as an independent exhibition since 2011 and has secured its place as a leading art exhibition.

The Sea Festival 2013 will open with Jung Mina’s fusion gayageum performance, followed by an opening declaration, introduction of the Artistic Director, and competition artists awards ceremony. After a tape cutting, Kang San Eh’s celebration concert and Bascussion’s brass performance will add heat to the opening ceremony.
