100-minutes

BORN IN SWITZERLAND and working in Berlin, his main interest is in the complex place where architecture, design and science/technology meet. Utilising the modularised  architectural principle, Andrea expands the scope of her work to space and to cosmos. His work \'self-reproduction\', based on biological principles, is a key in understanding his works. The concept of mechanical reproduction based on biological principles is important in better understanding the practice of contemporary art. If the principle of self-reproduction is introduced to art, the status of artists would completely change. If the intellectual and aesthetic experience of a work is only possible by enthusiastic and aggressive participation by the viewing public, the status of artist as creator would be hard to maintain. The work presented in this Biennale, which shows an artificial satellite orbiting earth, can also be said to be a self-replicating object made by outer space.
