BASED IN ROTTERDAM, Kleinjan mostly works with video and photographs. His works can be classified as concept photography. Mostly taken on city streets, his works questions the basic principals concerning the nature of photographs e.g.relationship between reality and image, public/private and voyeuristic/intimate natures of photographs, as well as the relationship between \'photographer\' and can see a complex narrative formed of 19th century photographs showing Cairo of that era (photographs were found at a local photograph shop in Cairo), and those of intimate actions of young lovers strolling along the streets of contemporary Cairo.
