Charcoal, the simplest of all art materials and the one most capable of conveying the touch of the artist's hand.
Initially it was male nudes and human hair that she most liked to draw in charcoal. The "sexy" image of those drawings is not due merely to the nature of the motif but also to the fact that the overlapping lines and the gradations in the drawings make us think of Dy's own body and fingertips pulsating with life.
In recent years Dy has challenged herself to produce large-scale drawings with nature as a motif.
This exhibition involved Dy staying for three weeks in Busan to produce a huge-scale 3.6 x 18-meter drawing. The drawing is a way of directly securing in place that pulsating of the human body.
