On 21 May 2015, after an extraordinary general meeting in Busan City Hall, in South Korea, the organising committee of the Busan Biennale named sculptor Lim Dong Lak as the ninth executive director of the operating committee for the event.

Lim Dong Lak is to supervise the event¡¯s programme and will be at the head of the operating committee for a year and nine months, until 28 February 2017. Lim Dong Lak, born in 1954 in Daejeon in South Korea, teaches Fine Arts at Dong-A University in Busan.
