Stephen Orlando uses programmable LED lights attached to kayak paddles and long exposure photography to reveal the path of the kayak paddle. As the kayaker paddles in front of the camera, a long exposure photograph lasting approximately 20 seconds is taken. In <Blue Purple White Kayak> we see the path of a kayaker’s paddle on Fairy Lake in Huntsville, Ontario, Canada. In <Sunset Kayaks> I we see the paths of two kayaker’s paddles at sunset on Lake Nipissing in North Bay, Ontario, Canada. These light trails have not been artificially created in post-production and the photos are not composite images.
