The Light of Waves

Emitting light on the border of the sea

'The Light of Waves' is a digital media installation using the waves on Songdo beach. The artist installs about 2,500 LEDs on the shore where the waves continue to flow in and out, to express the repeating and changing movements of the waves with light. Each LED has a sensor detecting movements of the waves, and therefore shows the natural flow of the waves with a pattern of lights. Unlike LED signboards in the city which are programmed in a uniform way, this work shows the forms of light changing organically by interacting with the waves, stimulating emotions and provides a new experience.
