Rocks, Meet the sea, 2017, natural stone, 1000x1000x270cm, Commission for the Sea Art Festival 2017
Rocks Collected from streams, the
natural stones and pebbles huddled together on the fine sandy beach conjure up
the image of a work of land art from the past which unfolded in vast wilderness
and coastal areas. KANGvisualizes the scientific
hypothesis that all individual natural stones were originally a part of a large
rock mass, which shattered into pieces over tens of thousands of years, and
were scattered as pebbles in streams and as grains of sand by the seashore. His
workis an organic expression of the shapes and forms of time and energy of
pebbles accumulated in one boulder before they were fragmented, and sheds a new
light on the roles of man-made actions and power of nature in art.
