2015바다미술제가 오는 9월 19일부터 10월 18일까지 30일간 다대포 해수욕장에서 개최됩니다!

가을바다와 함께하는 부산의 대표 미술축제인 바다미술제! 지난 2013년과 2011년 바다미술제가 송도해수욕장에서 진행되었기에 이번에 다대포해수욕장으로 장소가 바뀐 것에 대해 궁금해 하실 분들이 많으실 텐데요, 바다미술제 개최목적과 방향 그리고 역사를 보면 궁금증이 해결되실 겁니다.

바다미술제는 1987년, 서울올림픽의 프레올림픽 문화행사로 처음 개최되었지만 그 이후 부산의 바다라는 환경이 주는 해양성과 해·수변공간을 주 무대로 정형화된 전시장을 벗어난 실험성, 야외공간을 전시장으로 활용하는 공공성 그리고 관람객들과의 벽을 허물고 함께 즐기고자 하는 대중 소통성을 목적으로 개최되고 있습니다. 1993년까지 매년 개최되어 오다 1995년 예산문제로 5년의 공백을 가진 뒤, 조직위 창립 후 2000년 부산국제아트페스티발을 시작으로 2010년까지 부산비엔날레의 주 전시로 개최되어 왔답니다. 2010부산비엔날레에서는 전시의 통일성을 기하기 위해 기존 3개 전시인 현대미술전, 바다미술제, 부산조각프로젝트를 통합하여 개최 하는 변화가 있었는데요, 그 후 부산을 가장 잘 나타내는 전시이자 부산만이 할 수 있는 전시인 바다미술제를 부산을 대표하는 문화예술 브랜드로 키워내고자 2011년, 바다미술제의 독립개최라는 변화를 시도합니다.

바다미술제의 개최목적과 역사를 보면 ‘실험성’과 ‘해양성’, ‘공공성’ 그리고 ‘대중소통성’에 주안점을 두고 있는걸 알 수 있습니다. 그러한 이유로 바다미술제는 부산의 특정 한 바다를 배경으로 전시가 진행되는 것이 아닌 바다를 포함한 부산의 어느 곳이든 배경으로 할 수 있습니다. 지금까지는 해수욕장에서 개최되었지만 언젠가 더 기상천외한 장소에서 개최되는 날이 오기도 하겠죠?!

The Sea Art Festival 2015 will be held for 30 days from upcoming September 19th to October 18th at Dadaepo Beach! The Sea Art Festival held together with autumn sea as an art festival to represent Busan! While many of you would be wondering why the place has been changed to Dadaepo Beach since the Sea Art Festivals of 2011 and 2013 were held at Songdo Beach, your curiosity will be solved if you look at the purpose, direction and history of the Sea Art Festival.

Although Sea Art Festival was held in 1987 for the first time as a Pre-Olympic cultural event of Seoul Olympics, it is held for the purposes such as the oceanic atmosphere given by the environment called seas of Busan, the experimentation away from the standardized exhibition hall with sea/waterside area as the main stage, the public nature of using outdoor area as exhibition hall and the public communication of trying to enjoy together by breaking down the wall with the spectators. It was held every year until 1993, had a five year gap due to the problem of budget in 1995 and held as a major exhibition of Busan Biennale until 2010 starting with Pusan International Contemporary Art Festival in 2000. While there was a change of hosting Busan Biennale 2010 by combining the existing three exhibitions of Contemporary Art Exhibition, Sea Art Festival and Busan Sculpture Project to pursue a unity of exhibition, the change called an independent hosting of Sea Art Festival has been attempted in 2011 to develop the Sea Art Festival which is an exhibition that best shows Busan and an exhibition that can be done only by Busan as a cultural art brand to represent Busan.

If we look at the purpose and the history of hosting the Sea Art Festival, we can see that it places emphasis on ‘Experimentation’, ‘Oceanic atmosphere’, ‘Public nature’ and ‘Public communication’. For this reason, Sea Art Festival is not the one performing exhibition with one specific sea as background but can set the background as any place of Busan that includes a sea. Although the festival was held at beaches so far, wouldn’t the day when it gets held at a more extraordinary place will also come?

넓고 활용도 높은 전시 공간, 볼거리 즐길 거리 많은 다대포 해수욕장

광안리 해수욕장, 해운대 해수욕장, 송도 해수욕장을 거쳐 올해 2015바다미술제는 다대포 해수욕장에서 개최됩니다. 

이제껏 바다미술제를 개최하지 않은 새로운 장소라 조직위에서도 많은 기대를 가지고 있습니다.

다대포 해수욕장은 부산 사하구에 위치한 해수욕장으로 부산에서 제일 서쪽에 위치한 해수욕장입니다. 바다미술제를 개최하기에 정말 좋은 조건을 가지고 있답니다. 전시공간을 구성하고 작품을 만드는 환경으로 보았을 때 백사장 면적은 5만 3000㎡, 길이 900m, 너비 100m로 매우 넓은 백사장을 갖고 있습니다. 또한 수심이 얕고 다대포 일대에 자연환경이 그대로 유지되어있는 공간이 많아 해양적 특성을 살린 전시연출 및 공간 활용이 충분할거라 생각이 됩니다. 

다대포 해수욕장은 관람객이 전시를 보고 즐기기에도 좋은 장소입니다. 다대포 해수욕장은 본래 ‘다대 팔경’이라고 불릴 만큼 아름답기로 소문난 해수욕장이며 또한 주변에 비경이라 불리는 몰운대와 웅장한 규모를 자랑하는 낙조분수, 일몰이 만들어내는 다대포만의 낙조 등 유명하고 눈길을 끄는 명소가 많습니다. 그리고 최근 연안정비사업이 마무리되면서 새로 조성된 공원이 있어 나들이하기에도 매우 좋을 것 같습니다.

다대포 해수욕장을 2015바다미술제의 장소로 정하게 된 이유는 전시장소의 적합성과 나들이장소 외에 또 다른 이유와 의미가 있습니다. 일단 다대포에서 미술행사를 진행하는 것이 이번이 처음이며 다대포가 있는 사하구가 서부산의 중심이자 산업의 거점지역으로는 입지가 분명하지만 문화예술이 진행되는 지역으로는 주목받지는 못했습니다. 이번 2015바다미술제가 개최되면서 다대포를 포함한 사하구지역이 문화예술의 새로운 장소로 재조명될 것으로 기대되며 동부산권에 치우쳐진 문화예술의 균형발전과 이에 따른 지역 시민 문화 향유권이 높아질 것 것으로 예상됩니다. 또한 다대포해수욕장 주변엔 공공미술의 성공사례라 꼽히는 감천문화마을과 지난 2013년 개관한 레지던시인 홍티아트센터, 점점 활기를 되찾고 있는 원도심이 있으며 2017년엔 현대미술관이 개관될 예정이라 이번 2015바다미술제개최를 시작으로 서부산권 문화예술이 활기를 되찾고 향후 많은 발전과 기회가 있을 것으로 생각됩니다.

A Wide Exhibition Area with High Applicability, Dadaepo Beach Where there are Many Things to See and Enjoy

After going through Gwangalli Beach, Haeundae Beach and Songdo Beach, this year’s Sea Art Festival 2015 will be held at Dadaepo Beach. The Organizing Committee also has many expectations since it is a new place where Sea Art Festival had not been held so far.

Dadaepo Beach is at the westernmost part of Busan as a beach located at Saha-gu of Busan. It has very ideal conditions for hosting a Sea Art Festival. Looking as an environment for organizing exhibition area and creating artworks, the sandy beach area is very wide with area of 53,000㎡, length of 900m and width of 100m. It is thought that the place would have adequate presentation of exhibition and use of space that has highlighted the oceanic characteristics as water is not too deep and Dadaepo Beach area has many spaces that maintain the natural environment as it is. 

Dadaepo Beach is also a good place for the spectators to watch and enjoy the exhibition. Dadaepo Beach is originally famous for being beautiful to the extent of being called ‘Eight Views of Dadae’ with many eye-catching attractions nearby such as Molundae which is referred to as a mysterious land, Sunset Foundation which is proud of its grand scale or the unique view of Dadaepo Beach created by sunset. It would also be a very good place for excursion since there is a newly created park as the coastal improvement project was completed recently.

There is another reason and meaning for deciding Dadaepo Beach as the venue of Sea Art Festival 2015 other than the suitability of exhibition area and the place for excursion. First of all, this is the first time when a fine art event is held at Dadaepo Beach and the place was unable to receive attention as an area where cultural art event is performed although Saha-gu where Dadaepo Beach is located has clear position as the center of West Busan or the bridgehead of the industry. With the upcoming Sea Art Festival 2015, Saha-gu area including Dadaepo Beach is expected to be explored again as a brand new place for cultural art while we’re anticipating a balanced development of cultural art that had been leaning toward East Busan area and a right to enjoy culture by local residents followed by such development. Also near Dadaepo Beach, there are Gamcheon Culture Village which is ranked as successful case of public art, Hong-Ti Art Center which is an artist residency opened in 2013 and the old downtown which is gradually recovering its vitality while a Busan Modern Museum of Art is scheduled to open in 2017 so that the cultural art of West Busan area will recover its vitality starting with the upcoming Sea Art Festival 2015 and it seems that the place would have a great deal of development or many opportunities in the future.

빼어난 경관과 명소를 가지고 있음에도 부산 서쪽에 치우쳐져 있고 다른 해수욕장에 비해 외진 곳에 있다는 이유로 한동안 침체되어왔었던 다대포. 해수욕장의 기능을 잃었다는 말까지 나올 정도였는데요, 2009년부터 시작된 연안정비사업 중 최근 서쪽해수욕장 부분은 공사가 마무리되어 공원이 조성되고, 주차장 등의 편의시설 정비되는 등 새로운 모습을 맞이하면서 또 다른 도약을 꿈꾸고 있습니다. 바다미술제가 진행될 가을뿐만 아니라 봄과 여름의 다대포를 미리 가보시는 것도 좋을 것 같습니다.

새 시작을 꿈꾸는 다대포 해수욕장 그리고 새로운 배경과 환경에서 진행될 2015바다미술제의 만남! 9월, 10월 가을의 다대포 기대하셔도 좋을 것 같습니다!!!

Dadaepo Beach that had been inactive for quite a while because it is leaning toward the west side of Busan and located at a secluded area compared to other beaches despite the fact that it has superb sceneries and attractions… While there was even a saying that it has lost the function of a beach, it is dreaming of another leap as it welcomes new appearance such as a park being created and convenient facilities including parking lots, etc. getting improved as the construction of west beach has been completed among the coastal improvement project started since 2009. It would be nice to visit Dadaepo Beach of spring and summer in advance as well as in autumn when the Sea Art Festival will be held.

Dadaepo Beach which is dreaming of a new start, then the encounter of Sea Art Festival 2015 to be performed under new background and environment! Let’s look forward to meeting Dadaepo Beach of autumn in September and October!!!
